Flintstones nut Juergen Hartmann thought police were having a Jurassic lark - when they banned his replica of Fred's stone age motor from the roads in Germany.
Engineer Juergen created the life sized copy of the cartoon classic on the chassis of a distinctly more modern Volkswagen Polo.
But instead of Fred's two foot-power propulsion, this model has a nippy 1.3 litre engine hidden under the front roller.
"We copied every last detail. I work in car construction and love working with cars so it is perfectly safe.
"But when we got the registration form section about the number of lights, windscreen washers and wipers, well, we don't even have a windscreen so we gave up," said Juergen, from Thuringen.
"Instead we trailer it to shows and exhibitions for people to see and everyone seems to love it," he added.
