Green With Envy

Green fingered gardener Anita Moser is being quizzed by police after her former lover and his new partner were poisoned with an extract from the highly toxic 'Angel's Trumpet' shrub.

Moser, 49, is said to have dosed the 67-year-old doctor Herbert Deichmann and his lover Susana Bollinger by pouring water containing the poison in his surgery coffee machine in Wurzburg, Germany.

The doctor and his girlfriend became dizzy and blacked out after drinking coffee from the machine and were only saved when a medical colleague found them.

Poison from the shrub - first found in South America - can induce almost instant heart failure and causes horrific hallucinations.

Police say Moser - who denies any wrong doing - is a trained gardener.

Public prosecutor Dietrich Geuder said: "The investigations are continuing. Whether there will be charges on account of attempted murder and GBH will be decided when the investigation is finished."
